Was there ever a Gee Bee R-3?

"gee bee" will be leading Senior Citizens water colour painting field trip. Where will he take you?

  • Answer:

Well I'm not much of an artist but I wouldn't mind climbing aboard one of our local day boats and painting some of the the lovely aspects along the Norfolk Broads. For lunch a few nice cold cuts, potato salad, a drop of bubbly and maybe some of my homemade Ice cream, sadly not strawberry as that runs out faster than I can make it but a good dollop of creamy vanilla would do just as well. Sounds like a fun day out.

It's a good idea to plan something which suits most Seniors, bearing in mind that 'mobility' can be a problem for some, and we want everyone who wants to, to participate. Having said that, a 'Pot Luck' set-up at some body's house would do very nicely. Particularly if the Host of the Week has a garden. A House and Garden venue is ideal for inspiration and everyone could find something interesting to use as a composition. That has two advantages. No need for elaborate transport set-ups (we could work out a pick-up route and collect everyone who needed it.) and either have everyone who can bring something in the pot-luck mode, or I could cook up something really quickly (I can do that regularly..) such as a pasta meal, bring in pizza, do an 'all hors d'oeurves' Devilled Eggs, smoked salmon canapes, a Braunswiegger Pate with Philadelphia Cheese covering, Gazpacho Cold Soup (which I would bring myself..) and so forth. Food is no problem. And it should be a free choice as to what people like to do. Charcoal drawing, watercolours, pastels, crayons, pen and ink sketches, whatever people enjoy most. It goes without saying that 'geography and location' plays a part in planning something like this. You can't expect people from New York and San Francisco to get together for a weekly Senior's Art Club. They would have to live reasonably close for a regular group meeting to work. Thanks for asking. Nice idea. I'll be back in California early June. We live near Boulder Creek, which is 21 miles north of Santa Cruz. I'll be there 'til November.

He said that he lives 21 miles north of Santa Cruz, California in Boulder Creek and will be there from June to November. I would ask him to conduct a Plein Air class. I would attend this with great happiness. There is so much inspiration in this beautiful area. In addition to the ocean and mountain scenery, there is Mission Santa Cruz to paint. I will bring my water colors. I will leave the lunch up to him. My one request would be that he include some great sour dough bread.

The Sutter Buttes also know as "the smallest mountain range in the world" is in Calif. a mile away from Sutter where I live. There are special tours but it's also heavily guarded. Close to that is a wildlife refuge. People come here from all over the US. It's awesome! There's painting from landscape...and wildlife. The best place to eat is in this town...Joe's Mexican Grill..and I would bag that for lunch. 20 miles down the road is Colusa where Portier did the move Tick Tick Tick...the court house there attracts artists.

Great!! His being back in Calif for June will suit me just fine. As we will be back on South MS by then, so can take a road trip up to attend the field trip. I will go with the potluck idea as far as the food goes. I have family that stay in Camarillo so I can also pop in and visit them. Will bring desserts, either Peach Cobbler and vanilla ice cream, or Peach cheese cake, or Key-lime pie. (all home made) I will bring my cameras and laptop as I have photoshop on it. I will do my "painting" via that medium. Beulah
