What do a person have to do to become a make-up artist?

What does it take to become a professional makeup artist?

  • I am doing an art career project and I chose to do mine on makeup artistry because it is a field that interests me. I'm talking about eye makeup and magazine makeup not like movie makeup. What I need to know is what qualities and/or qualifications do you need to become a makeup artist. Like do you need patience / other personal qualities or a certain degree or license. I also need some really cool pictures to base my designs off of. Even if you can't give any advice on the whole career part cool pictures of makeup are appreciated! I like animal prints and peacocks and bright and bold colors/eyeliners. I have looked through many pages of Google images but I obviously haven't seen them all. Just looking for some inspiration! Thank you to whoever can answer my question! all answers appreciated. :)

    I believe you need to go to school (at lease it will definitely help you out), know how to work with different type of skins, a resume of your works (professional pictures) and know what you're doing (experience). you need: -makeup skills (practice a wide range) -people skills -a kit with everything you need -probably a portfolio just incase someone wants to seeeee pretty simple. just get good at it! :D
