Hi, I'm Nikesh and I work at the Department of Human Services in a team that responds to enquiries about Centrelink on social media sites like this one. The best way to test your eligibility for Youth Allowance is to submit a claim online claim here: http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/ya_claim.htm In addition to your study and/or other approved activities, your eligibility for Youth Allowance will depend on whether you're deemed as independent or dependent. There's more on that here: http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/ya_independent.htm If you’re dependent, your eligibility depends on your family’s income and assets, regardless of whether you're living at home or at another address. Check out the details of the parental means test here: http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/payments/ya_parental_means_test.htm You can call Youth and Student Services on 132490 to discuss your individual circumstances. Hope that helps

No you will not get youth allowance. The adults that would be taking responsiblity for you can petition the court for child support from your parents. By law you are still a minor. If your parents emancipate you, you would be considered an adult and no support would be offered for you. The word allowance is something an association or person wants to give, its not mandatory.
