How does a farm get classed as a factory farm?

Depressed over animal abuse?

  • I cant stop thinking about. I went vegan about a year ago when I saw what was happening to farm animals. No meat, eggs, milk, fur, leather, ETC. Then, a little while later, I came upon the horrors of animal testing. I immediately stopped buying from any company that tested on animals. Then I realized something. I am a type 1 diabetic, and I have to use insulin, which has been tested on animals. I felt so hopeless that i just broke down sobbing. I cried until I gave myself a bloody nose. Anytime I watch or read or hear anything to do with animal abuse, I think, "And here i am not doing anything?" And it just makes me so sad, because I don't know what to do, I don't know how I can help.. Also, I live with my dad and my brother, who are so horrible. My dad wont the dogs live in the house anymore, and since he has banished them, I am the only one who cares. I walk them, feed them, clean up after them, play with them. It has gotten to the point where I am spend every penny of my 20-dollar-a-week allowance to try and keep all the animals healthy, because I am the only one who cares anymore. My dad has threatened me with the animals, saying he will take them all to the pound if I argue with him. He also calls me crazy for being vegan, and laughs at me when i tell him why I don't support animal testing. My brother wont eat anything that isn't covered in the blood of an innocent animal, and he is so cruel. I have fought with him over my cat, who hisses at him and runs away when she sees him, because he wont leave her alone. It has gotten to the point where she wont even go downstairs unless im there with her. Although all of my friend's are compassionate, it is sometimes hard. They don't understand why I choose to live the way I do, and constantly tell me it is unhealthy, even though my diabetes and heath in general has been a lot better since i went vegan. It's just been really hard on me lately. I hate crying, and I'v been doing it so often. I hate myself for it, because I know it wont help anything, but I just cant stop. I feel so alone. I don't know a single other person who is vegan. No one understands my morals. Everyone around me thinks its okay to animal test, factory farm, and battery farm, save one or two of my friends. I wish I could help more, but I'm only 15. I know that sounds really self pitying, but I don't know what else I can do. Im sorry that this is so long, I'm just so angry and sad, I had to get it out, and I feel like ill only get laughed at if I tell anyone I know. It horrifies me beyond words what people do to animals. I can stomach murder, but I cant stomach animal abuse. I don't think my brother is cruel because he eats meat, I think he is cruel because of whatever he has done to make my cat hate him so much. She is absolutely cuddly with everyone else, but she hates him. And I hate animal testing so much that I would gladly give my life to stop it. I don't care how many people it "saves" because it is the cheap way out. There are proven alternatives to testing on animals. Not only is it cruel, but it doesn't't make any sense, seeing as how they are so different from humans.

    Go to PCRM.ORG for info on veganism & diabetes. By taking care of your dogs at your own expense, you are doing something. Show your dad the health benefits section of veganism on PCRM.ORG & their section of animal testing... it may change his mind. Your cat is smart... protect her from your brother. Resist criticism from your friends... they think meat is necessary for a balanced diet... they are wrong & you will outlive them. You are doing fine...look for friends who feel the same as you... they are out there.

I'm the same. dont buy animal tested stuff because its giving them money for hurting animals. join the rspca for a part time job or go to the local pound and ask to play and walk the puppies there. NEVER buy dogs from a pet store because many of them come from puppy mills and that gives them money. if you dont know what puppy mills are look at "the reality of puppy mills" on youtube. bring tissues cause you'll probably cry (i did). :) thanks for listening!

I am exactly like you!! i automatically hate someone who doesn't like animals. animal testing is one of the worst things and in most cases soooo un-necessary.. like for hair spray or shampoo... WHY???? its just wrong!! I admire you so much for being vegan and your dad sounds a bit like an asshole (with all due respect) I would do all I can to get my pets and get the hell out of there. Threatening to kill your pets if you have an argument is not on !!! he clearly has issues. seriously though. don't ever think your crazy for feeling this way. Crazy are those who don't care! i mean how can you not care about an innocent animal who just wants to be loved and fed...?! xx

Most medical supplies are tested on animals since they offer an invivo look at how the supply works. Without the testing many many people might die. I do know that easy touch pen needles according to their manufacturer are not tested on animals. I get mine from habibishomemedical.com Good luck.

Eat a burger, you'll feel better Seriously though don't stop taking your insulin because it may be tested on animals, that's just stupid. Remember the only reason your even living right now is because they have medicine for you that they tested on those animals. Also your brother isnt "cruel" for eating meat, most normal people do
