Is it normal for HP 7410 printer to get a little hot?

Is there any way to get my HP 7410 printer to accept a WPA2 password?

  • Is there any way to get my HP 7410 All-in-One Printer to accept a WPA2 password? When I configured it, I only saw a way to use WEP security, which is outdated and easily breakable. Are there any firmware updates or hacks I can apply to make this machine WPA2 compatible? I've heard it's WPA compatible (although I haven't tried that), but not WPA2 compatible. I don't want to step down my network. Do I have any other options?

  • Answer:

Check the HP site for any upgrades, but I don't think there are any. Another option is to configure your router for MAC filtering for the printer (let's face it, no one is going to hop onto your network via your printer stack), enter the printers wireless MAC card address, and only allow MAC addresses in the list access to your network, and turn your SSID broadcast off if it isn't already, no sense advertising there is a network available. Yes, MAC addresses can be spoofed...if you have the time to sit outside with a YAGI and capture enough packets, then decrypt them in hopes of finding a string with the printer MAC in it.....it would be easier to just kick your door down and grab your computer to get the data....know what I mean?
