Are canon SLR Cameras good as Canon video cameras?

    You do understand that SLR means a film camera correct? Probably not. DSLR is the designation for a digital SLR camera. Probably not. Mine, the Canon t1i, records very nice video but I think a higher grade video recorder, as in a 3 CCD model will do much batter. Of course, they're quite a bit more expensive but worth it if you're serious about video.

The DSLR's are good (I Have the canon 7D) for taking video but a Video camera is built for video. You can only record short periods compared to a video camera. Can you make a good movie with a DLSR yes but you are better off making a video with a video camera, with a DLSR you will buying a bunch of extras just to make you DLSR work like a video camera.

try searching youtube for videos taken using by the camera type that you sought for. But really, if you are intending to go for videos, why not buy a video camera instead? The quality of dslr video functions I think are great! But they are first designed to be photo cameras with a video component as secondary..
