How to find someone in Mexico?
-
Our family hosted a Mexican exchange student 20 years ago and we kept in contact with her fairly regularly until recently. In the past two years, letter and emails have come back that we sent to her, her parents and even her sisters or we have simply not gotten a response. My uncle (whose family is from Mexico) said letters from America often get stolen because people think they have money in them. So, in January, we sent a letter, in English and Spanish, with him on a visit to be mailed from inside Mexico. We still have not gotten a reply. Any tips? We only have names and apparently incorrect addresses. My mother is sick with worry. Thanks so much for your help!

Answer:
If you know her complete full name, then you can ask your long distance operator to contact the one in Mexico city in hopes that the Mexico City operator can provide you with a phone number.

You can most likely find the person's name in the white pages the same way you would do if you were looking for somebody in the U.S.

Mexico`s postal service is notoriously slow. They have begun to use a "Postal Code" but is in it`s infancy. Try this site http://tucodigo.mx it is user friendly. You say you get failure notices after sending emails. Try Facebook. Give the last letter some time. Most service providers in Mexico send their own staff to deliver "Bills", if not the entire system wold be dysfunctional. It could take 2 to 3 weeks within Mexico and to send a letter out of Mexico can take several weeks. It is up to her to contact you at this point. Could be she is married with a different name and a few kids to keep her busy. You could try a registered letter and see what happens. Good luck

Why don't you provide the last know address & full name of the person you are trying to contact. Some of us have access to local telephone books which may or may not help in your search.
