How does paypal funds work?

I would like to sell an item on Craigslist in order to avoid eBay seller fees. My question is, how does PayPal work when you receive money without using eBay or any other PayPal related company. I want to sell these concert tickets and its email print out tickets, and the buyer is willing to send me the money to my paypal email address then I will send the tickets through email. Is PayPal going to hold the funds? There is no shipping involved...its just an email I'm sending.

they just send you the money in your paypal account as a gift or payment, no ebay fee or holding the money.

have the buyer send the payment as personal and not as purchase. this way no transaction fee will be applied (unless the payment is funded by a credit card, where the sender gets to choose who gets charged with the transaction fee)
