Black screen on gateway laptop?

My gateway laptop went into to hibernation and now the screen is black, help please?

  • I put it into hibernate earlier today and when I pressed the power button to bring it back on, the fan and blue led lights (basically the computer turned on), but the screen remained black as if there was no power. I've held the power button down to hard-restart it several times (including even holding it for 10 or 30 seconds at a time) , taken the battery out of the back and waited 10ish minutes before replacing it, is there anything else I can do? Thanks. (It's a Gateway NV57H44u, with Windows 7, that was bought last November.) Thanks, I put it into hibernate through the onscreen Windows bar and have tried the (fn) key + F4, F5, F8, F11 (separately of course) and the power button to wake it manually, still nothing though. Looking through the manual now, thanks for the suggestion. Yes, yes I have. ---------------------------------------... The thought just occurred, can doing too many hard re-starts hurt your computer?

  • Answer:

Try take out the battery and put it back in worth a try

Have you tried restarting the computer?

Press the same keys you did to put it into hibernate to wake it from hibernate. Most laptops will go into hibernate when left unused and pressing the power button once and releasing wakes it or to wake from sleep mode pressing any key or the spacer bar wakes it. Go to the Gateway support website look up the user manual and read section on using and waking from hibernate/sleep mode(s). It is a little different for different brands and models.
