Why has my laptop screen confused black with red?

Laptop Screen White-ness?

  • I recently purchased a new laptop for home (ASUS N-series) and I am a little disappointed with the quality of the screen. It seems to not have any contrast, and its very 'white' everywhere especially the edges of the screen, it looks like a laptop I might have had 5 or 6 years ago. I bought it because at work I use an ASUS laptop with a very good full HD display but the one I purchased is no where near it in quality (new one is also Full HD and is meant to be brilliant as well). So I am a little confused with this, I pay $2000 for a laptop and its display is worse than my $1000 work hack's screen.. Is there anything I should be doing? Updating drivers? Tuning contrast? Thanks.
