HELP!!! Someone is impersonating me on facebook & facebook has not taken any action. Should I call the cops?
-
Someone is using my pictures, my name, and is adding people I was once friends with. They have filled in my place of employment, the school I once attended, and typed in many of my interests as well. They also have been interacting people using this account. I have reported this to facebook & nothing has been done. I am concerned about private messages that may have been sent with my identity & am worried about what they may contain & if this could be damaging in any way, so I am rather frustrated that facebook has not contacted me back. I would like to get the police involved, would they be able to get involved & have the account shut down and see what private messages have been sent so I can reconcile any damage that may have been done, and teach this person a lesson not to steal the identity of other people (who knows how many other profiles like this they have) since facebook is not helping?

Answer:
there is a good chance this could be one of your freinds ******* around. what you have described is actually illegal due to the fact the person that has cloned your account could troll or do illegal activity in your name so i strongly suggest going to the police.

Print out everything listed on that fake facebook account and yes call the cops and charge them for fraud, defamation and identity theft. These people are sick and they should spend a good 5 years in jail . This is a federal offence committed against you online and the cops can easily sniff the I.P address, get a warrant and be able to catch this person, along with taking all the computers in the house ( who knows what else they find). This is a felony and even if they serve 5 years, you can sue for defamation and emotional distress. Tell your friends to print any messages they get for you, So you can collect evidence. This is also a reason I hate facebook with the crap privacy issues.
