How to make Marzipan candy?
-
I was trying to find a good recipe for homemade marzipan candy online, but I couldn't find anything that seemed like a good source. None of them had any reviews on how good or bad they were. So, the point of this question is; do any of you know a *delicious* marzipan candy recipe (also with details on how to make the marzipan)? I would preferably want to make candies that are also pleasing to the eye, so if you have any cute animal shapes or anything like that would be just amazing! :)

Answer:
Marshmallow Cream Marzipan Ingredients: 8 ounces almond paste 1/4 cup (2 ounces) butter, room temperature 1 tbsp light corn syrup 1/3 cup marshmallow cream 2-3 cups powdered sugar Preparation: 1. Break the almond paste up into small chunks and put them in the bowl of the stand mixer. Add the butter, corn syrup, marshmallow cream, and any flavorings you might want to use. Mix on medium-low speed until smooth and homogenous. 2. Stop the mixer and add one cup of powdered sugar, then turn the mixer on low and mix until the sugar is incorporated. Stop the mixer again and add a second cup of powdered sugar and mix until combined. At this point, you can add more sugar or leave the marzipan as it is. If you are looking to eat it plain, dip it in chocolate, or use it in another featured capacity, the soft, fluffy texture of the marzipan is perfect. 3. However, if you need stiffer marzipan or want to roll it out and use it to cover a cake, add an additional cup of powdered sugar and mix until the marzipan is well-combined and stiff. 4. If you are not using the marzipan immediately, wrap it tightly in cling wrap and store it in the refrigerator. It can be kept for up to a month. After it has been stored, knead it until smooth and supple before using. ***************************************... How to Make Marzipan People Marzipan is a sweet doughy almond-based treat that is commonly molded into decorative objects, like fruit, animals or people. Also known as an almond paste, marzipan is popular around the world, especially in Italy and England. During various holidays, such as Christmas, marzipan decorations are used to add a special touch to desserts. Marzipan can be eaten on its own as a candy or on top of a cake. When putting together a cake, create a scene on top using marzipan people. Making marzipan people is a fun and crafty activity. Marzipan Molds Bowls Food coloring Gloves Knife Edible markers Instructions Purchase marzipan molds shaped like people at your local craft store or online. The molds come in all variations from babies to adults. Each body part is given its own separate mold or one mold will be the shape of the person's front, and one mold will be the shape of the person's back. Make the marzipan by combining 1 1/2 cups of finely ground almonds with 1 2/3 cups of powdered sugar, 1/4 cup of egg whites and a half teaspoon of vanilla or almond extract. Chill the marzipan for at least an hour, so that the dough can be molded easily. Marzipan can also be purchased premade from the supermarket and is found in the baking section. Separate the marzipan equally into different bowls. The number of bowls is determined by the number of colors you want to use for your marzipan person. Add several drops of food coloring to each bowl. Use a different color for each bowl. Decide which color you will use for each piece of the marzipan person. Knead the marzipan to completely incorporate the food coloring. Add more drops of food coloring if you want the color to look darker. Use gloves to prevent your hands from getting stained by the food coloring. Roll a large chunk of marzipan into a ball and then press the marzipan into the mold. Use the different colors in the appropriate molds for the clothes of the marzipan person. Cut off any extra marzipan by running a sharp knife across the top. A knife works well for keeping the marzipan smooth. Put the mold filled with marzipan into the refrigerator or freezer to harden for about 15 minutes. Pop the pieces out using your thumbs and forefingers. Or, simply turn the mold upside down and the marzipan pieces should fall out easily. Join together the front piece of the marzipan person and the back piece by gently pressing together. Using your finger, blend the two pieces together to form the marzipan person. Use edible markers to draw in any details, like the face, on the marzipan person. Markers or pens can be purchased at any craft store. Or, use any excess marzipan to mold little round eyes, a nose and a mouth. Tips & Warnings If you do not use the marzipan right away, store in the freezer in a plastic bag. If marzipan becomes too hard, add a small amount of corn syrup. If marzipan becomes too soft, add a small amount of powdered sugar.
