What jobs am I qualified for in the Military?

What jobs am I qualified for?

  • I graduated in summer 2010 with a B.A. in business management economics. It's basically just an economics degree with some business related classes thrown in. I don't have any skills that apply to the real world, just an understanding of math and economics. My GPA is only 2.4 so I leave it off my resume, and my work history only includes fast food jobs and manual labor that I've done for various temp agencies. I've just been drifting around looking for work but I don't seem to be qualified for anything. Most jobs require training and experience that I just don't have. I'm willing to work at a fast food restaurant or something, but I know I'd be under employed. Where do I belong right now? Someday I want to be an actuary and/or a real estate agent, but that both of those take time and money that I don't have right now in order to qualify. Where should I be working right now? Who would be happy to hire me and pay me more than a fast food job will?

I wouldn't underestimate yourself; you're educated and seem pretty motivated. Mention any school projects that are relevant to positions you're applying for in your cover letters. You should also look at some startups to join - check out startupers.com. Remember that people are hiring personality more than anything for these positions so just show that you'll fit into a company's culture and are willing to learn.

I have 3 degrees, 1 in culinary arts, (courdon bleu) 1 in electronics, and 1 in mobile electronics .. I now work in a factory, as a material handler, after spending the last 15 years stuck in kitchens.. I've lost 53 pounds, gained alot of muscle, and have learned to look out side of the box.. math = creative thinking, so just step back, see who's hiring, and be creative, thinking you can do it!! I hope the best for you!! Good Luck!!!

If they made you an offer then they obviously think you are qualified. Rarely do you get the chance to prove yourself wrong, and have that be a good thing. Worst that can happen? You are overwhelmed and looking for a job with less responsiblity in 6 months.
