How do i stop my dog from itching so much?

  • i have a 1 year old black lab, he has really dry skin. i know he is getting ready to shed but i dont know how to stop him from itching. i gave him 2-3 benedrill type pills that the vet gave us. and i have been putting some olive oil in his food. what else can i do b/c it doesnt seem to be going away its been going on for a couple months now

  • Answer:

If he's scratching in one specific area there are sprays you can buy to alleviate the itch, look for products called Hot Spot. He also could have dry skin due to a food allergy or he isn't getting the right nutrients from his current food.

Oatmeal shampoo. Don't give your dog to many baths. Once a month is where you should be at. Lamb and Rice dog food and continue with the olive oil and supplement it with fish oil.
