-
ok so basically theres this character which i really like and i want to use it in one of my fanflics but it technically belongs to someone else (originally its based on a show but that doesn't matter at this point) so im not sure how the thing works and im am 100% confused on how this works... what is this commission? am i supposed to pay him so i can use his character? can i just use it and link back to him? should i ask him or something? help? i am confused as hell...

Answer:
You can't just link and post back, the only time that is allowed is when the image is a "STOCK" photo, which is a photo uploaded for the purpose of free material fro photmanipulation...there is a catagory like this on Deviant Art...but that's beside the point. The point is if you want to use the character but the image the character is in, than you must ask the creator for permission (you have to ask either way.... don't just do it and post a link back, because artist that would have said no can pull down your post and get you into trouble. 0.0) So, just ask the artist...tell him what you want to do, and see if you can do a colaboration of some kind. If the artist says no than there is nothing you can do, if he/she says yes than you have to work out the detials with them. Just note them and see what happens. If you wanted them to draw the pictures for you than you could pay them for a comission, btu if you just want to use the chararacter....than you going to have to talk about that with them. ^_^
