Why is it that atheists are so often left wing, and religious people right wing ? Isnt that a paradox?

Darwinian fitness is NOT "the strongest will come out on top, the weak must die, every man for itself." The fittest individuals in a population survive in their environment better because they are lucky to have more appropriate genes, so they have more children than other adults who are not as lucky - thus these beneficial genes spread in a population. Individuals with less fortunate genes (for a given environment) don't reproduce as well or don't survive as well, so their genes gradually become less and less common as the population become better and better adapted to their setting. Concerning right-wing/left-wing, the biggest correlations are behavioral nor genetic: Right-wingers have less empathy than average, better follow authority figures, and put more value personal authority. So right-wingers like making laws, they like following laws, and if someone isn't doing well, they can easily ignore it. Thanks for defining this. It's something I've often pondered upon for years and you lay it out quite nicely. I'd add the part that says liberals believe everyone should be provided for while the right says every man provide for themselves. All that said, not much in the world about us now days makes much sense. It kind of fulfills Bible prophecy that says in the last days, evil will be called good, good evil, men lovers of their own selves, etc. with all kinds of wickedness & perversion of the truth which creates the world of chaos in which we currently live. I'll tell you how to figure it all out however. Just follow the money. When you get two extremes playing one another against the middle, there's money to be made and that's what's happening. Things evolved as they did because back in Lincoln's day the Republicans worked hard to capture the higher moral ground and that has been the political football ever since. They had to divide things up so each of them had a chunk of the divine right and this is just how it played out. Follow history a bit and you'll understand it a bit more.

Republicans take what's good about poor people, and turn it around to suit their agenda. They act like they're highest level of hippie morality, but with selfish ideas disguised as efficient macro-economic policy. They're the ultimate perverted liar. They could not stand 5 minutes of hippie lifestyle or honesty, so they try and hide it by claiming maximum morality. It's so absurd it makes it hard to attack them. Because WHERE do you start?
