What should I wear to an interview for an HR/Payroll Assistant position?

  • I have an interview today and I am wearing what I normally wear to my current office job. Black dress pants, a nice shirt with a sweater type thing over it. My friend at my current job said "Why aren't you wearing a suit?" I really never thought of a suit as being necessary unless I am going on some kind of interview for a business position in a very large company. I am 23 and a female. I just feel that most people my age don't wear suits on interviews.

EG: you would dress up very formally for a law firm, however you would dress sort of informal /trendy if it were an ad agency. If in doubt, nice, not-black suit (as in grey) and a nice, flattering shirt, short hills, hair pulled, manicure.

it's always best to wear a suit to an interview, it's a brilliant first impression for your prospective employer, it shows you are professional. I once wore a suit to an interview and pretty much everyone else was in casual clothes, guess who got the job.
