How do i fix my cassette player in my car?

How to fix a cassette player in car?

  • I drive a 2000 volvo c70 and I have an attachment that looks like a cassette that has a cord that I attach my ipod to. When the car is cold, or more like when it's cold outside, the cassette player makes no noise and plays just fine. But when the car is hot inside and outside, it makes this horrible, loud, scratching noise and it drives me crazy. Is there a way to fix this? or if i go to a mechanic how much would it cost? please and thank you :]

  • Answer:

The mechanic can only remove your unit from the dashboard. Then you have to bring it to an electronics repair shop to get it fixed.... if they can find the problem which is heat sensitive. Providing they manage to find and fix the problem, then after the mechanic has to reinstall the unit. It will cost you! It is better to buy a new unit with an external audio input where you can plug in your Ipod. It is really not worth it. However - there is a way around it where you can use the FM tuner to listen to your Ipod. In that case you would have to get a small FM stereo transmitter box that sends a signal the FM band can receive on a dead spot on the dial. Your Ipod plugs into the audio input of that little box.

Possible yes and expensibe proably not more than 200 depending on what is wrong and how much (if any) of the dash has to come apart, the best place to take it would be a dealer or a audio shop that does audio and electronics.
