Depends on what you want. Well first, you didn't say if you were a boy or a girl. Boys really only go into their head voice if they are singing falsetto (high). If you are a girl, generally pop and soul singers prefer chest voice and operatic and classical singers prefer a head voice. But not always. Head voice sounds purer and you can hit higher notes. Chest voice sounds more soulful and you can hit lower notes. Many people use a combination of both.

Its not really anything if you sing mainly through your head voice like me you are a soprano singer, in chest an alto singer and lower Is bass. But if your chest voice is too high that it comes through your throat and not your diaphragm then you should switch to head voice its confusing so good luck! =)
