My employer wants to use my personal information freely?

• When I initially entered my company, they had requested for my personal information (i.e. SSN, DOB, Driver License No, etc.). However, they now want me to sign a legal document permitting my employer be free to use my personal information whichever way they like. I highly disagree with this, since they also ask for my religion, physical condition, marriage status and other personal information. Is an employer permitted to use my personal information freely at their discretion? I really need some 'legal document(s)' that pertains to this matter. Any help will be very much appreciated.
