How much does a good capture card cost and detailed explanation about how to use it?
-
Ok, I want to start making video walkthroughs for several games (If you know what Achievement Hunter is, you should understand it) but with an added touch of a blog, but since I am new and don't know **** about that, I need some help, how much does a good capture card cost? What would you reccommend? And second of all, the using it part, I've read somethings about, but I dont get that exactly, they are not very specific,, so a detailed step by step guide to how to use would be really helpful. Thanks in advance for every(serious) response

Answer:
If you want a cheap 480i capture device, you can pick up a Dazzle at bestBuy for ..eh, 50 bucks? Want the basic HD capture device, you can get a hd pvr hauppauge online for about 200 bucks? (may have come down in price since then). Its very simple to use either one. They come with their own program that shows the gameplay footage on your laptop/desktop. the hd pvr actually has extra inputs to allow you to get an image on both your tv and laptop, with the dazzle you'd have to buy a splitter thing. Easy part is capturing footage. Hard part is learning to edit in Sony Vegas. :)

Well simple ones can be about 30-60? And high end ones are pretty expensive. I have no suggestions honestly. They aren't hard to use they are plugged into you xbox's (i hope) a/v cables then record using laptop or desktop then save the file

If you want to capture in HD, you only have a few choices. You could buy: Hauppauge HD PVR -Connects to your console via Component, S-Video, or composite -requires external power supply -Records in 720p or 1080i Black Magic Intensity Pro -Connects to your console via HDMI but there are splitters for Component, S-Video, or Composite -Requires PC with PCI slot -Records up to 1080p Black Magic Intensity Shuttle -Same premise as BMI Pro but it's an external hub -Requires USB 3.0 AverTV HD DVR -Same premise as BMI Pro -Doesn't come with any recording software (must use Fraps or other screen recording software) Most of these capture cards will require you to buy splitters if you want to play on your TV and record at the same time. For voice-overs/commentary, you can record live via mixer or secondary headset. And of course, you must have some editing software. Links to all products in sources! They are quite expensive to be honest. AverTV HD DVR is the cheapest. If you want a cheaper solution, buy a Dazzle capture card. Only records in standard definition though so quality won't be as great as the aforementioned products.
