What is it like studying in Malaysia?

Studying at UCTI Malaysia?

  • Hi and Assalamoalaikum everyone,This question is for UCTI students and former students, prefferably the ones who study information technology and animation etc. First of all I would like to know about your experiences studying there. good bad or average? Secondly, what kind of facilities are available in computer labs, like what PC specifications are there and are software packages available etc? I heard that UCTI is located in technology park Malaysia, what is he benefit of that? will i easily get a job at technology park through it? or will i get to study the latest technology available? lastly, i would like to know any reference books. I want to study an information technology book that covers the course topics to get an Idea of whether the education will be according to my aptitude or not. It will be appreciated if someone could tell me what part time jobs can i get considering that i have completed O levels and a 1 year certificate course from Arena Multemedia that covers print media(Illustrations, Picture editing, custom design, dektop publishing etc) and digital media(video and audio editing and compositing). I can also do basic 3D animation and modeling, structure animation, and to some extend arc viz work on 3Ds Max How much i can expect to earn if i get a part time job related to what is mentioned above. thanks in advance :-)

  • Answer:

UCTI (formerly known as APIIT) is by far the most established IT University in Malaysia. APIIT and UCTI has been proven for their graduates employbility over the years and as I recall use to offer about 12-15 Degrees in IT & Computing when I was studying there in 2007. I think there are more to it now and you can check the website at www.ucti.edu.my Also, as I know UCTI have been the Champions of Microsoft Imagine Cup for 2010 and 2011 and also represented Malaysia in many World Championships of Software Design Competitions. My company highly look on UCTI and APIIT Graduates and we always prefer to hire the APIITians. I personally loved my time there and I have heard now even have more International Students at UCTI, not sure if thats the good thing, however it is a very multicultural and diversified place to study at. Suggest you check their website.
