What do I major in to become a PE teacher?

What a levels do i need to do to become a pe teacher?

  • Answer:

tbh you need jack all A-levels to get into a university these days. A decent one, yes you'll need good a-levels or equiv, but the HE system in this country has become a joke recently so you'll find somewhere offering you a place. In answer to your main question, Sports Science Btec is probably better than a PE a level in some respects, and should definitely get you into a uni teaching course with a specialism in PE/sports. Other A levels? Well, like I said 'A' levels mean jack all these days, where I work we don't employ people based on what their subject actually is just on the grade...so pick some you're interested in. Oh yeah, and if you want to do a teaching degree get yourself some work experience asap.

yes that should be fine. it doesnt really matter what other a levels you do, some uni's even let you do courses without having an a level in that subject, it all depends on the other grades you get and the uni. i've got to decide what i want to do after college soon and went on a trip today to get more information about different university's. even though i asked about the same course for all of them (graphic design), they all said different grades they prefer you to have. it ranged from 3 B grade a levels/160 UCAS points, to some that went on your portfolio and not your grades
