Why can't I taste or smell at all after a cold?

Why cant i smell and taste from a sinus infection still?

  • Im just getting over a sinus infection and all my issues are just about gone.The only thing left is that i cant smell or taste anything and its scaring me!Its been 5 days!Is it normal for this to jappen and what can i do?I have a thyroid issue so i cant take cold meds.My nose does feel a little stuffy.My concern is i may have damaged inside my nose from doing alot of salt flushes to help clear my nose. But whats weird is that i can sometimes smell and taste and sometimes i cant,so i know i do have some sensation.

    The same thing happened to my mom but she hasn't had a sense of smell for nearly a year except for the occasional smell. The doctor says there's nothing really they can do and that sometimes it just happens. Hopefully it will come back over time but it doesn't always.

The same thing happened to my mom but she hasn't had a sense of smell for nearly a year except for the occasional smell. The doctor says there's nothing really they can do and that sometimes it just happens. Hopefully it will come back over time but it doesn't always.

I had something similar last year with my sinus problems. Except I had a super sense of smell. So much to where it was nauseating. It scared me for a bit. Lasted a few weeks then went away. I also coulldnt taste anything. Quite scary
