Kids Camp Activities!?
-
Hi, I'm directing a 2-3 day camp for 4th-5th graders. It's Ancient Greece themed-- so the Odyssey, Greek Mythology... adventure etc... I need to come up with some team-building, fun activities for the kids: short, fun activities where the kids can bond, learn to work together, persevere and just have fun with counselors. Any ideas?

A great activity for camp that is directly related to your theme would be to organize a Greek Olympics day. Most children like the olympic theme and it would entail planning, group organization and physical activity. Explain to the children that our modern day Olympics actually started in Ancient Greece and perhaps look up some info on the original games. (Ignore the part where the participants did not participate in the events fully clothed.) The children could plan the events, gather any equipment necessary, make the wreaths for the heads of the event winners, dress in togas, decide on appropriate snacks etc...... Divide them into groups and assign a name of one of the Greek city states (Sparta Athens Corinth Argos Megara) and they can represent their city in the games. Let them use their imaginations to fill out the day's activities.
