What does it take to run a car dealership?

Just bought a car can I take it back?

  • Answer:

The answer is maybe. A used car purchase is an as-is transaction unless there is a warranty specifically stated in the contract or purchase agreement or if it is the policy of the dealership to provide a warranty. If this is a reputable dealership and a bad car just happen to get through the cracks, you may be in luck. They may want to right a wrong and work with you. If this is a typical buy here pay here lot, I highly doubt it.

There is no right to return a vehicle. If it doesn't have a warranty, then you are responsible for repairs. Buying any used vehicle involves risk, and used cars are generally sold "as is".

If it won't run how can you get it there? Go move the connections to the battery back and forth and try to start it. Usually they need to be cleaned. Get your car oriented friends to came and see if the battery is old replace it. If the voltage doesn't go up to 14 volts get a new alternator. Maybe the trunk light doesn't go out, or you left the interior light on. Sure call the dealer and ask them what they will do.

You will have to contact the dealership that you purchased the vehicle from about what you are seeking. This can only be dealt with by them and you. Michelle, GM Customer Service
