Tip of the middle finger is numb and tingly?

Why is the tip of my middle finger tingly?

    Tingly is usually caused by pressure on a nerve. Perhaps you use your middle finger repetitively for a particular task. ie RSI like 'blackberry thumb' Tingling in the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and/or part of the ring finger, could be caused by compression or irritation of the median nerve.

for the last week or so, my middle fingers tip of my right hand feels tingly. the tingling does not go away with changes in temperature so i'm not believing it's circulation related. I can't specifically identify how it started but it was the day after a halloween. I don't recall straining my hand or digits in anyway. it does seem to become more severe with movement as it does not tingle very much in the early AM (after sleeping and prolonged stability.) I believe it's nerve related but I don't know for sure. when i press lightly and rock back and forth on the palm side of the proximal interphalangeal joint (on the side furthest from the thumb), it amplifies the tingly feeling slightly. Let me be clear, it is not debilitating, it is just something that causes consternation everytime i touch something because that fingertip has a different sensation level than my 9 other fingertips.
