Do the SAT and ACT determine if you can go to school in state or out of state?
-
ok so im preparing to register for my ACT and/or SAT. i had originally decided i wasn't going to do the ACT just the SAT because when i did practices the SAT was much easier for me. I live in OH and i most likely will be going to an in-state college but i REALLY want to go out of state. all the schools im looking at say they take both ACT and SAT and. Sometimes when i talk about how im only going to take my SAT people say "oh so you're going to school out of state?" my question is: is taking the SAT only for if you want to go to school out of state? and the ACT for in state? Can you take the SAT only and still go to school in state? thanks alot =]

Answer:
When I took the SATs about 3 years ago, it was more highly regarded than the ACT. But honestly, take both exam if have the opportunity, but if you have to pick one than I suggest the SATs. I know that all US college except SATs , don't really know about the ACT. And it doesn't matter whether its in-state or out-of-state, it depends on the school's preference. Maybe the reason people are saying "oh so you're going to school out of state?" is because a lot of the college in your state takes the ACT.. The ACT and SATs test different things. ACT does science, reading, math and writing while the SATs is broken down into three reading, writing and math. I suggest looking at possible colleges you want to go to like their website and looking under "Prospective student" or "Admissions"

No, not at all. You can take the SAT or the ACT. doesn't matter. All US schools now accept either one. My daughter took the ACT and applied to colleges in the mid west and east coast. You can take the SAT and apply to any college, in state or out of your state
