When i go to play a DVD on my PS3, my TV flickers to the "No Signal" screen. How do i watch my DVD?
-
Hi. I have a 42" Samsung Plasma TV. and A 60GB Song Playstation 3 (The first model to ever come out). Only recently (quite possibly when i got the TV, i never really noticed as i havent used my PS3's DVD player in a while) whenever i go to play a DVD on my PS3 the screen will go blank, i will have the ps3's little loading flicker in the top right hand corner, and the white play logo at the bottom left hand corner of my screen, shortly after the TV will revert to a screen has "No Signal" across the middle, as if i have put the channel on whilst the PS3 is turned off. The PS3 is still on, and sounding quite calm as if it is waiting for me to choose something from the DVD's menu, yet i cnanot see or hear anything. All my leadsare plugged in properly, and i guess it might have something to do with either the PS3's settings or the TV's setting, which i have not changed since purchashing my PS3 a very long time ago. The only change i would of done was connecting the PS3 to the TV Via a HDMI cable, and letting the PS3 do its own configuring, which i agree with all the time. I had a 32" LCD TV before my Samsung one, i cant remeber what brand it was now, but i never had this problem. Can anyone enlighten me on how to solve this problem or let me know if anyone else is experiencing any difficulties with this. I can play games and stream videos (via PS3 Media Server) perfectly. Thanks alot, James I do not have any BLURAY to test this out on. And i do not have any intentions of using them either, i just want to use the standard DVD's without the use of any kind of converter. I have used the DVD player for years, since i brought the PS3, the fact that a DVD would wreck it is a myth, and not true. That is about any more information i can give sorry.

ZGirl, please provide some links to tests performed or Sony information that backs up your claim. It's very easy to go online and make such claims without backing anything up. I have an original fat 60GB PS3 that I got within a couple months of release. I play DVDs on my PS3 all the time and have never had a problem. Nor have I ever read that this is a problem. James, I'm sorry but I have no idea what your problem might be. What I do know is that the PS3 is meant to play DVDs as well as Blu Rays.

You should try blu-ray DVDs and see if it still dos that. If it does then try changing your cable to an HDMI cable

Oh geez, NO! Don't play DVD/CD ROMs on your PS3 man! Those kinds of discs aren't good for the system. A lot of people don't know that, but they make your system work a lot harder than it has to and can potentially shift the insides a bit, or make the system overheat (my SLIM PS3 has almost overheated on me from a DVD, I'm sure the Fat would be far worse off, so don't play them on there.) Play DVDs in a DVD player because they're designed to play them. PS3's are designed to play Blu ray discs. That's why games come on Blu ray. Only play blu ray movies on it. No more DVD/CD ROMs or you'll kill your system faster alright. Go put the DVD in a DVD player and it will be good. Hope that helps.

When you buy bargain price system then you do not get good quality results. It is called slow response time on the tv. The only Sharp tv that is any good is the Elite model which cost around $7,000. Hope this will help you out.
