Ebay question about bidding?
-
Hi. I have an item for sale. One person has bid on it. My roommate has an ebay account as well. If I get my roommate to bid on the item against the other guy and then once the other guy gets fed up and stops bidding, I get my friend to cancel his bids. Therefore increasing the price for which my item will sell for. Is there a catch here? If my friend cancels his bids will the items price resort back to its original price or will it sell for the last bid the other guy made? eg other guy bids 10 friend bids 12 other guy 15 friend bids 18 other guy bids 20 friend bids 22 other guy stops bidding my friend cancels his bids Item sells for $20 to "other guy"?

Answer:
Your brilliant scheme is not only in violation of ebay policy, but let's call it what it is, which is fraud. You're smarter than everyone right? Go ahead with your asinine juvenile idea, and let us all know how much it was worth to you when you're serving your sentence.

For your own sake, don't do it. At most you get away with it and get a quick buck. Or if you get discovered, eBay might ban you. Worst case scenario, you get reported and arrested for fraud. Anything worth doing can be and should be done ethically. If you really want to sell it above and beyond a specific price, you can always set a reserve price, below which you have a right not to sell it. Hope this helps.
