Who here has been on the Holy Land Cruise?

Things someone can do on land on an Alaskan cruise in June. We will hit 2 ports on our cruise.?

  • Answer:

It would be very helpful if you specified which two ports your ship is stopping at... without that information, it is next to impossible to suggest any shore excursions. In Skagway, I went on an excursion I booked through Southeast Tours. Once I got on their mini-bus, the only walking I did was when I chose to get off the bus to take pictures. They made frequent stops. You would, however, have to find your own way from where the ship docks to where their bus picks up. http://www.southeasttours.com/skagway_sightseeing_tours_yukon_skagway_alaska_tour_info.html In Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), I went on a whale watch with F.I.S.H.E.S. They pick you up right outside the gate of the compound at Icy Strait Point (you'd have to walk to that point) and drive you to their boat. http://visithoonah.com/fishes/ In Juneau, I took an excursion through the cruise ship, only because it was of very limited size, and because the tour operator sold all of his seats to the cruise line and could not book passengers independently. The second part of that tour did involve a lot of walking, so it would not suit you.

If you are stopping in Skagway, I'd take the White Pass Railway. It's a great trip & very little walking, except the small bit from the ship to the train. Juneau, again just off the boat you can pick up a tour with very little walking Any ship booked excursion will pick you up very close to the gangway, and you may want to consider renting a folding wheelchair. It would even be useful on the ship, since it seems as though I'm always walking from one end of the boat to the other for some reason.
