How to catch catfish on the lake of the Ozarks?

I can't catch any fish?

  • This will be my 3rd day in a row going fishing and I have caught not one fish. I caught a nice size crappie with a minnow but it fell off as it came out the water. I need some advice. Ok, I have 4 reel & rods. I have 3 open faced, a Durango by Shakespeare, Tiger Spinning by Shakespeare, and Genesis by Tebco and a 33. I used to catch fishes all the time when I was younger 13-17. I even caught 2 carps and a 18lb catfish. Now I can't catch nothing. Sometimes I fish tight line sometimes I don't. This evening I will be going around 3. It's a lake that has all kind of fishes. What would be your suggestion I should make. I usually fish at least 6 feet deep with or without a cork. What size hooks do I use? It doesn't matter what fish I catch. I normally use liver for catfish, minnows for scale fish. I will be leaving in a couple of hours. If you leave an answer I will read it on my phone through email as Im shopping. Thanks.

    i dont know much about fishin only gone once, but caught many fish try using worms dont put all ur trust in me i never go fishing,but do try using worms

When I go fishing (catch and release), I use a small hook and hotdogs but I was aiming for sunnies, which I could see in the shallows.

You can have all the designer rods and reels in the world, but if you go to catch fish, first; make sure there is fish in the area you are at. Second, use the right bait. Third, know where the fish are and use the time of day. In mornings and evenings, bass feed along the shore for smaller fish. Crappie usually hang out by hazards like brush in the water, rocky areas about 3-10 feet down. Cats usually like a soft muddy bottom and along the banks in breeding holes. Walleye like cooler water near feeding springs or in clear deep water.. etc.......
