Which is better LCD or LED monitors?

Which contrast ratio is better for LCD/LED computer monitors?

  • I'm looking into buying a new monitor and I understsand what contrast ratio means and that higher is better but there are various form (of marketing perhaps) that don't make sense. One is a Samsung that says it has a Dynamic Contrast Ratio (DCR) of 1,000,000:1 with 1000:1 in parenthesis. Another Acer monitor is 12,000,000:1 (ACM). Obviously if we're comparing apples to apples, itd be a no brainer to get the Acer but I have a feeling they're using different ratings or something. Why is the Samsung monitor so low? How do I compare contrast ratios so I know which monitor is best?

  • Answer:
