Roaches attracted to my tower case?!?
-
I have alot of roaches in my apartment. We didnt bring them thats how the apartment is. I thought we were doing something wrong but i asked the neighbors and they all said this apartment is literally crowded with roaches but thats besides the point. A week ago my computer got messed up. I sent it to the shop to get it fixed and the tech guy said roaches were going in the tower case and because they had liquid in them when they touched the wired things they burned causing the liquids to get on the wire things. My land lord told me roaches are attracted to moisture so keep the heat on. But my parents hate the A/C they like it warm for some reason and that attracts more roaches. What would be a good temperature that isnt to cold for them? And once i started on my computer immediatly roaches started walking around it. It must be the thermal energy from the tower case causing them to like it. So how do i stop the heat so my desktop doesnt get messed up? AND IF YOU DIDNT GET THE QUESTIONS IM ASKING IT IS: What is a good temperature for my parents that will affect the roaches and benefit them? [They dont like the A/C on 60-77. Soooo??? What can i do about the roaches being attracted to the moisture heat by the tower case?

Answer:
there will be no temperature that would be comfortable to live in for you that would effect roach activity...just buy a tube of Combat Roach Gel, comes in a large syringe, then place it out where you know the roaches are hiding in the apartment....if you don't want to place the bait on or in the tower itself, cut some one inch squares of paper, napkin, cardboard, etc place a dab of gel on the squares then place next to the tower, this will draw the roaches out to feed and in a few day the p[problem should be gone..chances are egg capsules may of been dropped inside the tower so you may want to keep the bait out for a couple of weeks if not longer. The problem they caused yuor tower is not because of the liquid in them, but the liquid they constantly secreted on the electrical components.

Roaches like any temperature. In freezing weather they just get under something. They can run around in temperatures from 30F to over 100F. German roaches like to get in wiring and sprays will not kill them. Combat bait will kill them. The roaches eat the bait and go to where the other roaches are and they die and it can take a week for this to work. Some roach motels with some food in the middle of them around the tower will trap the roaches. Sprays scatters roaches. When one apartment is sprayed some of the roaches run to the other apartments. If these are german roaches, spray will not kill them. Killing the roaches will keep them out of the tower.

Your landlord is full of crap. In all the years I have been alive and dealing with roach infestations I have NEVER heard anything about roaches not liking heat. In fact it is the opposite. Once during the winter months, I bought a stove from a friend that had roaches. I had planned on spraying the inside, but unloaded it from the truck (it did have roaches), and let it set outside covered up for a couple of days. When I opened it up to spray, no roaches. I sprayed it down just in case. I have had roaches in the heat of summer even with air conditioning on and in the winter with the heat on. Your landlord needs to be spraying and just doesn't want to. I would tell him the roaches are a problem and that he needs to spray. Then buy some roach motels and set around.
