What kind of degrees do you need to be a middle school science teacher?

  • So im really considering being a middle school science teacher. I love science and im good at it. So what kinda what degrees would i need to go to school for, to get a good job as a middle school science teacher? What degrees look the best to schools? Also im thinking about being a chorus teacher. Can i get two different degrees for different subjects without spending 8 years in college? Thank You!!

    2 years for the core usually, the rest depends on you Usually if you are an Elementary Ed major you need a second major so that could be your science major or music major. If you pick the second major to be music, the option is to take courses in sciences in upper level courses (besides the core) to take the praxis test to obtain the certificate in Middle school science. Also you probably could take a test to be music teacher as well to open your chances or more jobs. the other option is to become a science major as well, so you can take the praxis and be certified to teach high school, middle school, and elementary school science (but only if you are and k-5 education major) If you have a minor in education you can only teach science in high school In terms of which is the best science major, that will depend on you, what are yo good at, if you are plan to take chemistry or physics you need to be good at math too. The most popular majors to teach are Biology, chemistry and physics! but it could change Keep in mind that this is at least how it works in some states, but it will depend on where you live, also ask your college advisor about this they will be happy to help you
