How likely am I to get pregnant? Missed a pill and symptoms?
-
First off, I'm 25, I've been married going on 7 years and we have a little girl that will be 3 in a few months. So IF I get pregnant, it's not the end of the world. Spare lectures, just would like to know from someone who knows more about this (women TTC and the such) I missed a pill. I didn't know until days after because I always take it at night so it's dark and I don't really pay attention, then I noticed I was on the wrong day. So I missed a pill completely in the 2nd half of the 2nd week of active pills. Sure enough, a couple of days later I start bleeding like a full on period (a bit over a week before I normally get it... I'm usually very regular on this pill) Combination pill btw. I had the bleeding just like a normal period for 4 days. I got really sharp cramps in my right ovary (normally I would say the area, but this was very very specific) and horrible pains in my lower back between my hips. The cramping went away in about 10 minutes but the back pains lasted for a while and I ended up taking pills and it went away. I should say that in my normal periods on the pill I may get cramping but normally not too painful, and mostly around my uterus. Occassional sharp pains around my uterus and rare dull pains around my ovary area but never sharp and easy to pinpoint there. I'll say my husband and I have a healthy sex life, and he doesn't pull out. Again, it's really nothing upsetting if I get pregnant. I would just like to know how likely it was that I was actually ovulating? I've been taking my pills regularly again, and I would get my normal pill period in a few days (If I actually get it) and in how long should I take a pregnancy test to be sure?

Answer:
The second week is your week of "book normal" ovulation. It is very possible that missing the pill along with the fact you do not use back up, you could be pregnant. You'll need to wait until your normal period of course to take a test, but there is a chance. Best of luck with the outcome. Babies are a wonderful gift and having had my son only 10 months after my daughter, I can say I understand the not worrying when you are married, but it goes much easier when only one of them is in diapers. Good luck!
