Moving to Los Angeles from the east(Middle Class)?

  • Im 19yr and thinking about moving out to CA. Im from SC where its green, and water. I like the City, but would like to have a small house with a yard.... One day anyway! I know the cost of living is threw the roof. Now for me. Im married with no kids, wife does hair styling and has a few certificates. I am a Marine reserve, high school graduate, thinking of college, I love cars, motorcycles. im good at sales, and fixing things. so pretty much Im off to a fresh start. I have been out here for mos training and I have fell in love with LA and Orange County. anyadvice ? cheaper areas, I dont mind a little drive.. but no further than the inland empire.

Bad idea for the time being.. The cost of living in Southern California is one of the highest in the country. You'll have "sticker shock" when you see how much it would cost to live on your own, and the Corps wasn't paying the freight. It also has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. Jobs of any kind are practically non-existent. It could take you many months to find work. During that time you would have to live off any savings you have. The money problems could put a strain on your marriage. So Cal is a hard place for young couples to get started.
