Todays Society: Merit Based Evaluation of People?
-
I think in today's society, alot of people evaluate people based on what they have achieved in life and that can be placed on hard paper. I think some people hate this approach because, this process shortlists alot of people simply because they have not achieved alot in life. On the other hand, there is alot of people who think that a merit based approach has no credibility whereas a merit based approach reflects to a degree what a person has achieved in their life. What do you think?

Answer:
Your wording is kind of confusing so I'll just jump into college admissions..... I think that there's a lot more to choosing the most potential/intelligent candidate than test scores.... I think things like essays and outside projects or just SOMETHING else can show the intelligence of someone... I mean... I guess I'm not making sense..... Let me put it this way I know kids that have like really good SAT scores but are wayyy less intelligent than I am and just studied like a lot but like it's not even studying it's just memorizing what they want it's like.... This is hard to explain LOL But in college admissions they can only judge you off your application but I believe there are ways to show other than test scores that you are intelligent... Essays, outside work, projects especially. That should be more a part of the app process... and of course grades I mean there's no excuse for grades not being A's I mean that's just simple DOES NOT make you smart though it's really easy to get A's.... Well this probably was hard to follow. SMH.
