Why won't my pineapple grow, is it because the winter season just finished?
-
i planted a pineapple in september 2011, it stayed and stays green. the leaves are wide apart, they're not hard (like the leaves usually are) and it's not dried up. but the problem is that i don't think it grows. i live in london and the pineapple stays inside all the time. i thought it's the winter season and it's meant to stop growing. but now it's half way through march, and it still doesn't grow. i water it regulary (as in when the soil is dry). some leaves at the bottom are yellow and dead, and as it goes up, some of the leaf's tips are also yellow, even in the centre of the plant, some of the leafs have yellow tips, but i don't think they've been turning yellow anymore. please don't answer saying anything to do with that pineapple wont grow in london, i just want too try,

Answer:
Needs to be in the sun and be warm. I have 5 going right now in the ground....they don't need much watering. Once a week is good but they need space to grow and fruit.

Maybe some nutriants are missing from the potting soil, or maybe the plant is root-bound.

Leaves yellowing sounds like it might be getting too much water or it got freeze damage. . However, it is normal for pineapples to not be growing at this time of year. I live in southeast Louisiana and mine in just now putting out two blooms. It has been warmer this year then before and unless you get 60F temps, it will be slow to get going again. The difference in mine and yours is that I have mine outside and it gets plenty of sun. It has taken my plant 1 1/2 years to put out a bloom. Unfortunately, about 1/3 of the leaves get frozen and it is shabby looking. I will protect it if I do it again. I feed mine with time release fertilizer granules and it got about 4 feet wide and tall. Hope you succeed with yours.
