Why does my eye keep twitching?
-
My left eye's top eyelid keeps twitching. My mom told me to get some sleep and that would help, but it started up again when I woke up. It's not allergies/pollen either because it just rained and it's still twitching. It's extremely annoying to the point where I have to close my eye, and it still twitches when closed. Anyone know how to make this stop?

Answer:
your mom is right! this is almost always "myokymia" or benign eyelid tremor. most often brought on by not enough sleep, too much stress or too much caffeine (or some combo of those!) get more sleep, less stress & less caffeine. this is not dangerous, just annoying. i myself had this for 3 months one time when I was going thru a very stressful personal time in my life...

In Asian medicine that means your liver energy is low. I had this happen to me not long ago as well. Some possible causes are bad diet ie fried, fatty foods, staying up late, and especially drinking too much. Give you liver a rest by eating healthy and stop drinking. Take milk thistle as well to tonify the liver.

Definition An eyelid twitch is a general term for involuntary spasms of the eyelid muscles. In some instances, the eyelid may repeatedly close (or nearly close) and re-open.This article discusses eyelid twitches in general. Alternative Names Eyelid spasm; Eye twitch; Twitch - eyelid Causes, incidence, and risk factors The most common things that make the muscle in your eyelid twitch are fatigue, stress, and caffeine. Once spasms begin, they may continue off and on for a few days. Then, they disappear. Most people experience this type of eyelid twitch on occasion and find it very annoying. In most cases, you won't even notice when the twitch has stopped. More severe contractions, where the eyelid completely closes, are possible. These can be caused by irritation of the surface of the eye (cornea) or the membranes lining the eyelids (conjunctiva). Sometimes, the reason your eyelid is twitching cannot be identified. This form of eyelid twitching lasts much longer, is often very uncomfortable, and can also cause your eyelids to close completely. Symptoms In addition to having repetitive, uncontrollable twitching or spasms of your eyelid (usually the upper lid), you may be very sensitive to light or have blurry vision. Treatment Eyelid twitching usually disappears without treatment. In the meantime, the following steps may help: Get more sleep. Drink less caffeine. Lubricate your eyes with eye drops. If twitching is severe, small injections of botulinum toxin can temporarily cure the spasms. Expectations (prognosis) The outlook depends on the specific type or cause of eyelid twitch. In some cases, the twitches usually stop within a week. Complications Permanent eye injury from unrecognized cornea injury is possible, but rare. Calling your health care provider Call your primary care doctor or eye doctor (ophthalmologist) if: Eyelid twitching does not go away within 1 week Twitching completely closes your eyelid Twitching involves other parts of your face You have redness, swelling, or a discharge from your eye Your upper eyelid is drooping --------------------------------------…

Never heard it from someone who's not mexican haha Well, I hope it goes away soon! I have been stressed and haven't slept well...
