What do I need to do as a Physician Assistant?

Need help understanding the Physician Assistant field?

  • I'm a junior in high school, and recently learned of the Physician Assistant field and it really enticed me. However, it is pretty confusing. From what I have gathered thus far, you must earn a Bachelor of Science and after graduating you apply to a PA school? I have been looking into UNCG for my undergraduate program thinking maybe of doing a Public Health or Medical Technology major, and then transferring after my 4 years to somewhere with a PA program such as ECU (UNCG does not have one). SO, does what i have said sound correct? Just looking for exactly what I should be looking at college wise as it is coming up soon. Thank you

    Basically, but you do not transfer, after your get your bachelors, you apply to a PA program which would be a masters. A few programs are bachelors PA programs and you would apply to them out of high school. They have a whole list of things you must fulfill to apply. Pick a few and just look at their requirements. the aapa.org is the national chapter and has info on the web. NCCPA is the certifying body.
