Why is my printer printing red horizontal lines all over the page?

My printer is printing horizontal lines?

  • When I print something, there are huge horizontal lines across the page. I tried cleaning the printing heads and I tried a print head realignment thingy, both of which aren't working. I don't know what model this printer is; all it tells me is it's an Epson Stylus CX8400 if that helps. I suck when it comes to technology, so please and thanx if you can help me make these lines go away :)

  • Answer:

If you have cleaned the heads and aligned as well then perhaps the print heads are actually worn out. if the printer is "well used" then this is likely the issue, replacing the heads is usually not cost effective, it is often cheaper to buy a new one.

Your ink cartridge is low, empty or possibly clogged First step is to see will if it print a test page Go to Start, settings, printers. Right click on the printer, properties, print test page. If that doesn't work there should be a head cleaning option in properties that will make it clean the print heads. If there is still nothing after that then either it’s badly clogged, low or out of ink, and needs to be replaced This may help Turn on the hot water until warm Put about 1/2 inches of water in a cup Put the print head portion (where the ink comes out) in for about a minute or two This will help to dissolve the clogged print head Dry off the cartridge using a soft tissue. Re-insert the cartridge into the printer. Run the normal cleaning software routine a few times

There are many reasons to print horizontal lines on page. First you need to check the hardware, try to print self test page of the printer to check the print quality, If it print horizontal lines, then please clean the cartridge contacts which soft cotton and then clean the print rollers with soft cotton. you can find the rollers back of the printer door. If the issue still persists then need to be service. If the hardware printing is fine, then check the printer cable or Port or printer drivers.

You have a clogged ink tank or your printer nozzle is damaged. Try to wash the ink tank in warm water (don't put the whole tank into the water, just the tip of the head tank.) Then gently scrub the the head, hopefully it will work. If it doesn't then you have to buy a new one.

I had the same issue but I cleaned my nozzles by printer and that solved it, the thing is if it stands for a long time without being used it happens. If its not that it could be the cartridge itself and you might need a new one. Failing that it could be just the printer itself, but check all cables and make sure your printer has the up to date drivers (Operating files).
