Am i getting conned on my driving lessons ?
-
Ok I had 3 1hour lessons then I got told 2 hour lessons would be better so I have had 2 2 hour lessons( that's 7 hours ) and all I've done is drive on endustrial roads and estates and my last 2hour lesson all I did was left turns all the time? It also takes 15 minutes to get to these places an 15 minutes back so that's 30 minutes gone ! In these 7 hours I have not been on proper roads and all I have done is move car away, stop it,move up to gear 4 and move down and 2hours of left turns.

Answer:
you are learning just what do you expect a trip to the seaside as and when you have some idea of car control you will be introduced to traffic and with luck be less danger to yourself or other motorists and industrial estates are real roads like it or not .You still have a lot to learn as you will discover over time

An instructor will only allow you to do the things they feel you are able to do. Have you asked to go on main roads yet? You could try having 1 lesson with a different instructor and get their opinion on your driving and what you should be working on for your ability?

Can't a relative or friend take you driving? If you do ok on roads you can tell the instructor that.

Not necessarily 'conning' you as any good instructor is going to only let you interact with heavy traffic, complex junctions and higher speeds once you've demonstrated you can handle the basics, which are mostly taught in quiet areas. That said, if you feel you are able to control the car safely in these quiet conditions then maybe you should be interacting with other traffic as it's detrimental to your learning doing, say, junctions for hour upon hour, when there's absolutely nothing around. I personally get my students out of the quiet areas as soon as I can. I have routes that I've learnt and therefore use which, in my mind, I have graded in difficulty/safety. Therefore if you're a weaker driver I'd use a safer quieter route, whereas a confident capable driver, I'd use a much more challenging route early on. Remember it is your own money so if you are unhappy spend it elsewhere. There are so many *insert expletive* driving instructors out there at the moment so, if you're worried, try someone else. If you live anywhere near Stoke or Stafford give me a call lol. Also; Do not just go for the cheapest, there's usually a reason why they're so cheaper. Ultimately everyone is different, sometimes people take a long time to learn to drive sometimes a shorter time. I only really have one goal when I'm teaching...And that's to make you the best and safest driver I can. Hoper that helps. Contact me from the form on my website if you have any questions about anything. ALways happy to help ;o)

if your not happy, first take it up with your instructor and then if your still not happy, go get another instructor all instructors in the UK have very strict margins they have to pass, if they have a bad pass rate or Lerner's seem to be taking longer to pass with them they will lose there licence to teach
well iv done 15 lessons which is 15 hours at £25 a lesson and i have done everything my first lesson i was on a main road at 45 mile an hour then started doin in around the town juctions traffic lights roundabouts etc then i started doing minuvors like 3 point turn reversing round the corner stuff like that well befor my 7th lesson so to me u sound to be gettin ripped off altho my lessons are expencive per hour im gettin somewhere lol if ur lessons are cheap then u cud end up being out more money in the long run
