How should I ask for a job application?

How exactly do you ask for a job application?

  • I'm 20 and have never had an actual job before. I'm wondering how exactly you go into a place and ask for an application. The places I'm going to be applying at are Starbucks, fast-food restaurants, and possibly department stores. To me it seems a little overbearing on an employee if I enter some place like Starbucks, don't order anything there, and waste their time asking for an application. Granted, I want a job, but I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb as "that guy who desperately wants a job." On a side note, I have a lot of social anxiety when it comes to these things making it doubly harder to ask for applications.

I have an Anxiety disorder also. I know how small interactions in social situations can cause Anxiety. It really is very common and acceptable to just walk in an ask for an application. You may find it faster and easier to do several online applications. When I was about your age my first was job was at a call center. This was a great job for me because with my Anxiety it helped that I didnt have to deal with customers face to face.

You go in, wait for them to finish with whomever they're serving and say "May I please have a application?" It's not over-bearing... Odds are they get that question several times a day. I know I certainly did when I was a cashier. They'll either hand you the application, or point you to the stack of applications.

honestly best thing to do is go up to the counter and be like hey i was woundering if i could application, trust me people would rather work hand you an app thin take orders and make the **** because people are like that so you dont have any thing to worry abought and if its to much to handel for you try ordering something then after you get it ask hey are you guys hiering if they say yes then ask for an application

Go in and ask "Can I have an application please?" Simple as that. Its not being desperate, its called working. It wont be a wwaste of time if you get hired.
