How to become a child life specialist?

O.K so i am a junior in HS right now but I am looking at colleges and stuff like that and trying to decide what i want to do with my life, well i have known I wanted to work with children, and a couple years ago my Aunt askes me if I had ever thought of being a child life specialist, at the time i didnt know what it was so i did some research... I believe that i was born to do this job... but heres what i would like to know.... I am not sure i could get excepted to a college that offers a child life program... and i kind of really would like to go to UNM for undergrad... What should I major in, i really dont think i will have much of a choice in schools, its probably UNM, UNLV, or UNR... If i majored in child development would that work... I want to go into a graduate program so Im going to get really good grades in college and then apply to colleges that actually have masters programs in child life. So if i went to UNM for under grad what would the chances of me being able to get into a graduate program... Oh, by the way hopefully this summer i will start volunteering at a childrens hospital and next year I am taking a student peer buddy class, its like best buddies, but you get an elective credit and you mostly work with the kids during the school day... DOES that help me at all? THANKS SO MUCH

you can always transfer after a year or 2 if you do good--you might get Accepted as a transfer student
