Fender Standard Precision Bass, Fender Modern Player Jazz bass or a Fender Modern Player Telecaster Bass?

The Precision is a good bass for rock while the Jazz Bass is better for all-around type of music . If oyu like to slap, stick to the precision. It has more punch but, if you like the deep bass sound, you can't beat the Jazz due to its longer thinner neck. That is why is has a softer bassier sound.

A Fender Jazz is used by many. I'd say most pro bassists play one or have one in their collection. P-Basses are good, but shorter neck/scale. Either is good. A Jazz is great. I have one and a Martin Acoustic bass. Love 'em both. Someone mentioned a Rickenbacker. They are tremendous guitars as well. A Rick Fretless is something special.
