What should I do about my 'plays favorites' boss?

Should I get my boss fired or not?

  • So here's some background info. I work in the hospitality industry for a leading hotel provider. My manager is already on probation because she let unregistered guest stay here for free. But when I outed her (I was the one who the problem was brought to by housekeeping) she cried her eyes out to the big boss and he put her on probation and said she would have to earn everyone's trust back and fly straight... After that, she hated me for a while, now we are better. We went out the other night for St. Patty's day and after wards she brought some dude she's hooking up with back to the hotel and got a room (unregistered so of course she didn't pay), the newly hired night auditor knows about this, and then she asked our breakfast lady to drop off toothpaste.toothbrush, a hairbrush, and mouthwash to the room, so she knows as well. Oh btw the guy she is hooking up with is one of my co worker's friends so he knows about it too. And just so you know, she's not the best manager. She never returns calls, which makes us at the front desk look bad. She plays favorites when scheduling and she bad mouths her boss to anyone who'll listen, including her subordinates and that's just to name a few things. And yes I want her job, and yes I am qualified for it, but this is not the motive behind my question. I am trying to do the right thing for our hotel, because I actually care for and enjoy my job. What do you think I should do? Any professional advice would really help me out today. Thanks in advance!!

You want to get another person fired ? not nice, she's not acting very professionally but you shouldn't take advantage of that, let her dig her own grave without you. Its something you may feel badly about later. (if you are a decent human being that is)

Why are you getting drunk with your boss? Very unprofessional. Yes, of course you should report this infraction.

She sounds REALLY immature, unknowing about her responsibilities and taking advantage of the system. In other words, she's is everyone's boss. Bosses feel that some things are just perks that go with the job. Other people know about it - so let it go. Even if it's not this time - eventually people like this get noticed in a bad way. You tell - and you will get known as the tattler. No one wants to be around the tattler. Just do your job and keep your business and other's to yourself.
