    Universities have a number of titles they use to describe IT majors. These titles often vary from school to school. The best way to figure out what skills the major is going to give you is to look at the course listings. If you see a lot of programming courses the major is basically Computer Science oriented. If you see a lot of non-programming courses, security related courses and systems administration and architecture courses this is probably Computer Information Systems oriented. This is the degree I have. If you see a lot of management courses and very few technical courses then this is an Management of Information Systems business/IT degree. If you see a lot of electrical engineering courses and things like circuit and circuit board design then this is a Computer Engineering Degree. Best Wishes!
