How can I install "Google Chrome" on my laptop?
-
3/16/2012. How can I install "Google Chrome" on my laptop? I keep trying to install CHROME on my computer, but it will NOT work. I used Internet Explorer to try to download Google Chrome. I click on the link that says, “If you are having trouble with the download, click here.” RESULT = DOES NOT WORK. After I do that, something shows up ààà “The installer couldn’t create a temporary directory. Please check for free disk space and permission to install software.” Afterwards, I click on the BLUE LINK that says “Show me help for this issue.” RESULT = DOES NOT WORK. That blue link leads me to this link ààà http://support.google.com/chrome/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=188831 I tried BOTH steps: Step 1: Check for "expand.exe" Step 2: Change the location of your temporary folder RESULT = (both steps) DOES NOT WORK. PS - I like Chrome so much and I prefer it over IE and MF. If somebody can help me install Chrome, so I can enjoy Chrome again…you would be so awesome! --------------------------------------... Computer Info: OS Name = Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Version = 6 Service Pack 2 System Manufacturer = Hewlett-Packard (HP) System Model = HP Pavilion dv2700 Notebook PC System Type = x64-based PC

Answer:
Chrome sucks. It is an over-hyped and over-rated system memory hog. Use a different browser.

Download the installer. Right click and select 'Run as Administrator'. Click Yes if a dialog box pops up. Install Chrome. Hope it works :)

When it says it couldn't create a temporary directory, it makes me wonder if you have permissions- are you an administrator on the computer?

For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/avLPd You may not have a strong enough system. Compare your system's specs with the gOS reqs. Or you may have to re-install the OS. (BTW, I recommend Ubuntu for normal computers, Ubuntu Netbook Remix for netbooks, and Puppy Linux for older computers.)
