How to convince my parents to let me get an airsoft gun?

  • I am a 14 year old boy and I want an airsoft gun really badly. I've shot some before and it seems pretty harmless to me, as long as certain safety precautions are met. My dad doesn't really care, but my mother won't let me. I have been asking her for about 2 weeks now. She just doesn't like the fact that of having a airsoft gun in the house, even though pretty much all airsoft guns have a safety lock. She says airsoft guns are only for stupid people and for rednecks/white people. (no offense to rednecks, my mother thinks rednecks are crazy. I'm not really sure why she says only white people have them.) She isn't budging at all and I don't really know what to do now. Can anyone help? *Additional Info* I am asian and she says asian kids are smart and shouldn't have airsoft guns, even though i know plenty of asians who have air soft guns. I get pretty good grades and I can pay for the gun myself. I may plan to ask my older brother, who is in college, to talk to her about how they aren't dangerous, but he isn't coming back for some time. I really can't think of anything else to do.

Your mother sounds racist, prejudicial, and close-minded. Airsoft guns are harmless toys. Playing in airsoft matches is a great way to get exercise and build team leading skills. I had several real guns at your age and I'm at the top of my class.

Wow she's racist. Tell ur mother a Mexican/white who owns 2 of them has a 4.5 GPA and plays 3 sports as a sophmore in highschool. One warning to you they are not legal in all places and are illegal to show in public. Check ur state and city laws. You have to be smart cause cops will pull out there REAL gun on u if you are running around the park or city with them.only carry it in a gun bag or u will look realy suspicious. Keep the orange tip on.
